The Lord Is My Shepherd | Jonathan Wilburn | Psalm 23 | Guest Speaker
Filling in while Don Burnett is away, Jonathan Wilburn walks through Psalm 23 for seasons when life feels like the valley of the shadow of death. He uses three biblical examples to show what the Shepherd's promises look like in real life. Mary chooses to sit at Jesus' feet instead of being consumed by busyness (Luke 10:38-42), a picture of lying down in green pastures. Peter steps out of the boat and walks on the water in the storm until he looks at the wind (Matthew 14:22-33), a picture of trusting God through the valley instead of only asking to be pulled out of it. Daniel purposes in his heart to follow God, from the king's table to the lions' den (Daniel 1, 2, 6), a picture of a table prepared in the presence of enemies. He cautions that following God is not a formula for an easy life, and calls the church to the kind of trust that lets sheep lie down.
